Wonder Woman 1984 is a 2020 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, Atlas Entertainment and The Stone Quarry, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman and the ninth film in the DC Extended Universe. Directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Jenkins, Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham from a story by Johns and Jenkins, it stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen. It was followed by Zack Snyder's Justice League in 2021.
Diana Prince lives quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s -- an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she's come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile by curating ancient artifacts, and only performing heroic acts incognito. But soon, Diana will have to muster all of her strength, wisdom and courage as she finds herself squaring off against Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.
A prequel comic "WW84: Museum Mayhem" was released in September 2020 and an associated comic "Serving Up Justice" was released in 2021.
