The Scorpion King is a 2002 Universal American and German action-adventure film produced and directed by Chuck Russell, and starring Dwayne Johnson, Kelly Hu, Steven Brand, Grant Heslov, and Michael Clarke Duncan. It is a prequel and spin-off to the 1999 film The Mummy, followed by The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior.

In Ancient Egypt, when an evil ruler is determined to devastate all the nomadic peoples of the desert. The few remaining tribes, never natural allies, have to unite or perish. Knowing that their enemy trusts the sorcerer's visions, they hire a skilled assassin, Mathayus (Dwayne Johnson), to eliminate the visionary.
