The Mummy is a 1999 American Universal action-adventure film directed by Stephen Sommers, produced by James Jacks and Sean Daniel, and starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, Arnold Vosloo, John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor, and Oded Fehr. It is a remake of the original 1932 film The Mummy, and followed by The Mummy Returns.
At an archaeological dig in the ancient city of Hamunaptra, an American (Brendan Fraser) serving in the French Foreign Legion accidentally awakens a mummy (Arnold Vosloo) who begins to wreak havoc as he searches for the reincarnation of his long-lost love.
