
The Jackal is a 1997 American action thriller film written by Chuck Pfarrer and Kenneth Ross, directed by Michael Caton-Jones; starring Bruce Willis, Richard Gere, J. K. Simmons, and Jack Black. It is based on the 1971 novel The Day of the Jackal written by Frederick Forsyth, which was previously adapted into a 1973 film.
The FBI and MVD are forced to work together with a former IRA sniper to track down and stop a mysterious assassin known only as "The Jackal", who's been hired by a Russian mobster to kill the director of the FBI.
