The Exorcist is a religious horror film released in 1973. The film was directed by William Friedkin and stars Linda Blair, Jason Miller, and Ellen Burstyn. It is based off of William Peter Blatty's 1971 novel of the same name. It is the first film in The Exorcist series and the first film in the Trilogy of Faith.
In the film, the daughter of an actor is possessed by the spirit of an ancient demon king. Two priests are eventually called to exorcise the child, a task which they underestimate.
