The Day of the Jackal

The Day of the Jackal was initially just a 1971 British novel written by Frederick Forsyth. However, in 1973, it was adapted into a film by Kenneth Ross and Fred Zinnemann, and then again in 1997 by Chuck Pfarrer, Kenneth Ross, Michael Caton-Jones.

The book and films revolve around various security forces' efforts to thwart a mysterious assassin's plot to kill the president. In the book and 1973 film, the location is France and President Charles de Gaull is the target. Where as in the 1997 film, it's changed to America and the target is the director of the FBI.
