Strangers on a Train

Strangers on a Train is a 1951 American psychological thriller film-noir directed by the late Alfred Hitchcock.

The plot revolves around a tennis player who meets a stranger on a train; each having a person they want dead. The tennis player, Guy Haines, has a hag of an ex-wife who cheated on him and is standing in the way of him getting married to a new woman, while the stranger, Bruno Antony, has a father who he claims hates him. Bruno proposes the idea that they each kill each other's enemy, so there will be no motive. Guy doesn't take the conversation so seriously, but when Bruno kills his ex-wife, he realizes the gravity of the situation, especially when Bruno starts stalking him, expecting him to fulfill his end of the bargain.
