Star Trek: The Kobayashi Alternative is a Star Trek themed text adventure video game released by Micromosaics in 1985. The game was available for Apple II Plus, Apple IIe, Apple IIc, Commodore 64, Macintosh and IBM PC. It features characters from Star Trek: The Original Series and was followed by Star Trek: The Promethean Prophecy in 1986.
The player is Captain Kirk and must command the crew through star systems and planet away missions. Exploration of the USS Enterprise is also required to complete missions. The overall aim of the game is to solve the Kobayashi Alternative Command Performance Evaluation.
