There are two kinds of people in his up-tight world: his victims and his women. And sometimes you can't tell them apart.
—Official tagline

Point Blank is a neo noir/mystery film released in 1967.

In the film, a mysterious man is shot supposedly dead by his partner-in-crime during a money run in San Francisco. A year later, he returns to the streets of California, looking for $93,000 in cash that was promised to him so long ago. The film was directed by John Boorman and stars Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, Keenan Wynn and Carroll O'Connor. It is based off of Donald E. Westlake's 1962 novel The Hunter. It has been re-adapted in 1999 and 2025.

Victims[]

  • Two Unnamed Couriers - Shot in the chest by Mal.
  • Walker - Shot in the chest multiple times by Mal. Revived as a spirit. (Debatable)

  • Frederick Carter - Shot in the chest by the sniper after being pushed into the line of fire by Walker.
  • "Big" John Stegman - Shot in the head by the sniper.
  • Brewster - Bled out after being shot in the chest by the sniper under the orders of Fairfax.

    • 1 Female

  2. Mal Reece - 2 (Deceased)

  4. Fairfax/Yost - 1 (Alive)

Notes[]

  • The film's narrative is left ambiguous to if Walker is even alive as he is seen getting shot in the opening. Two prevailing theories is that we see his spirit during the film, supported by the fact he vanishes into thin air at the end of the film, or that the whole film was his final revenge fantasy playing in his head as he dies. However, director Boorman has left it up to interpretation, meaning we cannot deduce for sure the status of Walker.
