Missing in Action (1984)

Missing in Action is a 1984 American action film directed by Joseph Zito and starring Chuck Norris. The film was followed by a prequel, Missing in Action 2: The Beginning (1985), and a sequel, Braddock: Missing in Action III (1988). It is the first installment in the Missing in Action film series. "Missing In Action" was actually intended to be a sequel to "Missing in Action 2", but when it became clear that "Missing in Action" was a much better film with stronger commercial prospects, "Missing in Action 2" was turned into both a sequel and a prequel that detailed events before those in "Missing in Action". Norris later dedicated these films to his younger brother Wieland Norris. Wieland, a private in the 101st Airborne Division, had been killed in June 1970 in Vietnam while on patrol in the defense of Firebase Ripcord.

Colonel James Braddock (Chuck Norris) survives a brutal stint in a Vietnamese POW camp, but he believes that even after the war ends enemy forces are still secretly holding American men captive. Eventually, he is tapped by the president to go overseas and search for U.S. soldiers who went missing years ago. Once in Saigon, Braddock learns that his suspicions are correct, so he teams up with reckless fellow veteran Tuck (M. Emmet Walsh) and stages a violent rescue mission in the jungle.

Notes[]

A soldier is shot by Vietnamese soldiers but he is seen alive later.
Colonel James Braddock attempts to committed suicide by jumping off a platform with two grenades in his hand but it is revealed to be a flashback and he is alive.
General Tran says that Colonel James Braddock killed innocent, men, women, and children but he is lying and he doesn't specify how many people he supposedly killed.
Also General Tran says that Colonel James Braddock let 10 of his men die while in a prison camp for not admitting to his "War Crimes" but he is talking about the events that occured in Missing in Action 2: The Beginning and they will not be counted since they have already been counted.
