Knowing, stylized as KNOW1NG, is a 2009 science fiction thriller film directed by Alex Proyas. It stars Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne.
Fifty years after Lucinda Embry put a list of numbers into her school's time capsule, a boy named Caleb retrieves it. His father, John, discovers that the numbers perfectly predict every major disaster that has occurred since that time. Notes[]
- Disasters from the film that actually occurred in reality do not have their actual death tolls, either having more or less. For example, Hurricane Katrina actually killed 1,833 people in reality, but it killed only 1,577 in the film.
- Any death counts written on the whiteboard and papers in the film that didn't have a known disaster linked to them are combined together. Some of the death counts written on the whiteboard are practically illegible and are therefore not included.
- The number for the 6 billion people counted at the end is taken from the total population in 2009, minus anyone who died during the film and Abby and Caleb, who survived. The number is likely not accurate to the film's universe.
- No animals were counted, despite a few appearing in the film, as none of them died on-screen and no total number can be ascertained.
Trivia[]
- Actor Liam Hemsworth plays a small role as Spencer in this film. It was his first ever film role, though he had prior experience with television.
