House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series that is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones, both based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R. R. Martin. The prequel series was created by Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO and is based on portions of Fire & Blood. It premiered on August 21, 2022 and is the second series within the World of Westeros series.
