Hiroshima mon amour (Japanese: 二十四時間の情事 "Nijūyojikan no jōji") is a surreal/romantic/drama film released in 1959.
In the film, a married woman has an affair with a married man while acting in an anti-war film in Hiroshima. As they begin to know each other on a more intimate level, they begin to share how the second world war impacted their lives. The film was directed by Alain Resnais and stars Emmanuelle Riva and Eiji Okada. The film was the feature debut of Resnais, and alongside The 400 Blows and Breathless are considered the catalyst of the French New Wave movement and has impacted cinema in general.
