Grand Theft Auto is a 1997 action game created by Rockstar. It is the ninth game in the Rockstar Universe.
It is the first game in the Grand Theft Auto series, followed by Grand Theft Auto II.
A silent criminal hired by the Liberty City-based Vercotti Crime Family to assist in their various crimes, as a hired goon and as a getaway driver for bank jobs. Later, they help take down the New Guernsey-based Sonetti Crime Family's crime operation.
