Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an anime, and a remake of Fullmetal Alchemist, which starts out similar but follows a very different path. It is more loyal to the manga. Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse, after the former loses his arm and the latter loses his entire body and is bonded to a suit of armor, search for a way to restore their bodies while fighting to stop the evil plans of the Homunculi and their creator, Father.

- Basque Grand – Killed by Scar with his Arm of Deconstruction (incomplete alchemy in which the process is stopped at the "deconstruction" phase, destroying the victim's internal organs)
- Shou Tucker – Killed by Scar with his Arm of Deconstruction
- Nina Tucker – Killed offscreen by Scar with his Arm of Deconstruction as a mercy killing
- Alexander – Killed along with Nina by Scar, as the two were merged together as a chimera
- Brother Cray – Eaten by Gluttony
- Older Slicer Brother – Blood seal stabbed and split in two by Lust with her claws
- Younger Slicer Brother – Blood seal stabbed multiple times in different spots by Envy

- Barry the Chopper – Killed when Zombie Barry scratched out his blood seal
- Zombie Barry – Died as a result of killing Barry due to his connection to Barry's soul

- Ishvalan child – Shot in the head by Envy to start the civil war. (Set in flashback)
- Gluttony – Philosopher's Stone torn out and absorbed by Father. Was later revived by Father
- Master Berthold Hawkeye – Died of an illness. (Set in flashback)

- Lieutenant General Raven – Slashed by Olivier and fell into wet cement
- Hohenheim's master – Sacrificed in the Philosopher's Stone ritual by the King of Xerxes. (Set in flashback)
- King of Xerxes – Sacrificed in the Philosopher's Stone ritual he cast under Father's manipulations to make Hohenheim immortal instead of him. (Set in flashback) Was later revived when Father released his soul and gave him a new body

- Solf J. Kimblee – Eaten by Pride. Afterwards, his soul is trapped inside Pride until Pride is stripped of all his power by Ed, releasing all the souls inside him
- Envy – Destroyed when he crushed his Philosopher's Stone in his hands out of disgrace at being jealous of humans and that Ed realized this and pitied him for it
- Sloth – Impaled on a spike by Armstrong and Sig
- Old Man Fu – Slashed by Bradley, then stabbed by Buccaneer while already mortally wounded in order to stab Bradley
- Captain Buccaneer – Stabbed and mortally wounded by Bradley, pulling the sword out to stab Bradley and dying of blood loss
- Gold-Toothed Doctor – Sacrificed by Pride to perform human transmutation, leaving him as a bloated mass of flesh which didn't survive long
- The following were sacrificed in a ritual by Father, who then absorbed their souls, to open Earth's Gate of Truth and absorb God, but were almost immediately revived by Hohenheim and the Xerxes souls inside him:

- Pride - Head crushed by Ed in his hand. "Reborn" as a human baby/fetus (his "true body") with no power or memory of his former self (Some consider this as outright survival with a new identity and personality; some consider it death and rebirth; others interpret this fetus was used to create Pride and survived his "death" to live a life of its own and grow into the true Selim)
- King of Xerxes – Destroyed by Father with an energy wave.
- Alphonse Elric – Sacrificed himself to restore Ed's arm, reversing the transmutation that put him in the armor. He was revived when Ed sacrificed his Gate of Truth and ability to use alchemy.
- Greed – Destroyed by Father biting him in spirit form.
- Father – Impaled by Ed with his fist after being turned to fragile carbon by Greed, destroying his Philosopher's Stone. Afterwards, his soul was sent to his Gate of Truth and dragged through the gate to be dissolved back into the void of knowledge from whence he was created.
- Van Hohenheim – Died as a result of using up all his Philosopher's Stone energy and souls against Father.
