Flash Gordon is a 1980 space opera film directed by the late Mike Hodges, based on the King Features comic strip of the same name created by the late Alex Raymond. The film stars Sam J. Jones in the title role, Melody Anderson, Ornella Muti, the late Max von Sydow and the late Topol, with Timothy Dalton, the late Mariangela Melato, Brian Blessed and the late Peter Wyngarde in supporting roles.
A football player and his friends travel to the planet Mongo and find themselves fighting the tyranny of Ming the Merciless to save Earth.
