Terror... Tension... Almost More Than The Heart Can Bear!
—Official tagline

Experiment in Terror is a neo-noir/psychological horror film released in 1962.

In the film, a San Francisco bank teller is attacked in her home by a calculated killer, who threatens her into stealing $100,000 dollars from the bank, lest he kills her and her family. She contacts the police, but they quickly realize they have to be secretive as possible in their investigation, as any suspicious can spell death. The film was directed by Blake Edwards and stars Lee Remick, Glenn Ford, Stefanie Powers and Roy Poole. It is based off of The Gordons' 1961 novel Operation Terror.

The film is considered influential, as it was one of the first films to blend neo-noir with horror, and its style has been cited as an influence on slasher and giallo films. The film was also an influence on American director David Lynch, with the suburb in this film being called Twin Peaks, later inspiring the name for the show.
