Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a romantic/sci-fi/psychological drama film released in 2004.
In the film, a heartbroken man undergoes a procedure that will erase all memories he had of his ex-girlfriend. However, while slipping into his mind during the procedure, he begins to have seconds thoughts and desperately tries to escape the erasure. The film was directed by Michel Gondry and stars Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo and Elijah Wood. The film was heavily inspired by the 1968 film Je t'aime, je t'aime.
