It is the fourth film in the Hammer franchise Dracula, the sequel to Dracula: Prince of Darkness and followed by Taste the Blood of Dracula.
The priest of a small town, Ernst Müller (Rupert Davies), finds Dracula's (Christopher Lee) castle and locks the doors with a sacred crucifix. But the bloodsucker breaks through and arrives in the town when Müller's niece (Veronica Carlson) brings her fiancé Paul (Barry Andrews), who turns out to be an atheist, to the house, and therefore he is expelled in disgrace.
