—Official tagline

Django is a spaghetti western film released in 1966.

In the film, a mysterious stranger dragging a coffin walks into a nearly-abandoned village caught in between of a turf war between Confederate soldiers and Mexican revolutionaries. As the stranger begins to overstay his welcome, it is not long before they realize that his reason for being there is more personal than they thought. The film was directed Sergio Corbucci and stars Franco Nero, José Bódalo, Loredana Nusciak and Ángel Álvarez. It is a loose unofficial remake of Yojimbo.

The film is most known for spawning the character of Django, who would go on to appear in around forty different films, most of which are completely unrelated to each other apart from the title name. Its only official sequel is the 1987 film Django Strikes Again.
