Crime Story (Chinese: 重案組; also known as New Police Story; released in the Philippines as Police Dragon) is a 1993 Hong Kong action crime thriller film, directed by Kirk Wong, and starring Jackie Chan, Kent Cheng, Law Kar-ying and Puishan Au-yeung. Unlike most Jackie Chan films, which feature a combination of action and comedy, Crime Story is mostly a serious film. The film is based on actual events surrounding the 1990 kidnapping of Chinese businessman the late Teddy Wang. Jet Li was originally considered for the role of Eddie Chan. While this movie was still in pre-production, his agent the late Jim Choy was gunned down by the Triads. The incident caused Li to opt out of making a movie about organized crime, as he was afraid of attracting the wrong attention, so he chose to do Tai Chi Master (1993) instead.
An honest Hong Kong cop (Jackie Chan), guilt-ridden over his participation in a recent shoot-out, attempts to save a real estate developer kidnapped under his care.
