- Slater has been arrested a couple of times:
- Drunk driving on December 29th, 1989 and spent ten days in jail.
- Criminal possession of a weapon for boarding a plane with a pistol on December 23rd, 1994 and was sentenced to three days of community service.
- Assaulting his girlfriend and a police officer while under the influence of drugs and alcohol on August 11th, 1997 and spent 59 days in jail and three months in rehab.
- Third-degree sexual assault on May 24th, 2005 for allegedly grabbing a woman's behind on the street, but it was dropped due to lack of evidence and Slater promising to keep out of trouble for six months.
