A media genre originating from the late 1940s in Japan (starting with the film Drunken Angel) which usually incorporate the yakuza into its plot. The genre often contains elements from crime, action, thriller, and sometimes satire, black comedy, and horror. Examples include Tokyo Drifter, Yakuza Graveyard, and Ichi the Killer.
