Breathless (French: À bout de souffle) is a crime film released in 1960.
In the film, a film noir fan decides to start stealing cars. After killing a police officer, he quickly escapes into Paris and falls in love with an American girl. The film was directed by Jean-Luc Godard and stars Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg, and Daniel Boulanger. It is the feature debut of Godard, and alongside Hiroshima mon amour and The 400 Blows are considered the catalysts of the French New Wave movement. The film is also notable for marking the end of film noir and the beginning of neo-noir. It was remade in 1983.
