Hans Grüper, later known as Dr. Arthur Arden, is the tertiary antagonist in season two and the overarching antagonist in season four of the anthology television series American Horror Story. He is the physician and Administrator at Briarcliff Manor. A confirmed Nazi war criminal, he was responsible for the altered humans running rampant in the surrounding forest. He is also the archenemy of Elsa Mars and Massimo Dolcefino.
He was portrayed by James Cromwell in season two and portrayed by John Cromwell in season four.
