All Dogs Go to Heaven is a musical comedy/drama film directed by Don Bluth, starring the late Burt Reynolds, the late Judith Barsi, the late Dom DeLuise, the late Vic Tayback, Lonnie Anderson and the late Ken Page. It is followed by the film All Dogs Go to Heaven 2.

In this animated feature, canine casino owner Charlie (Burt Reynolds) is killed by gambler Carface (Vic Tayback), but returns to Earth from heaven thanks to the powers of a magical, rewindable watch. Charlie sets out to take his revenge on Carface by means of an elaborate plan that involves an orphan girl, Anne-Marie. But as the plan progresses, Charlie discovers that Anne-Marie is being exploited by Carface. Charlie must decide whether to change his mission from one of revenge to one of rescue.

Notes[]

  • After Charlie is sent to Heaven, both of his parents are shown in the book of his life, although it's unclear if they also died at any point before the film.
  • When Charlie reads Anne-Marie War and Peace as a bedtime story, a picture is shown of General Pomerov either stabbing or being stabbed by another soldier while they're surrounded by other dead soldiers, however they won't be counted since they aren't real in any way.
  • During the montage of Charlie, Itchy, and Anne-Marie making race bets, a frog is shown eating several handfuls of flies, although it's impossible to tell how many.
