Forty ninth parallel (1941)

49th Parallel (The Invaders in U.S. releases) is a 1941 Canadian war drama. The film was directed by the late Michael Powell and stars the late Leslie Howard, the late Laurence Olivier, and the late Anton Walbrook.

In the early days of World War II, a German U-boat is sunk in Canada's Hudson Bay. Hoping to evade capture, a small band of German soldiers led by commanding officer Lieutenant Hirth (Eric Portman) attempts to cross the border into the United States, which has not yet entered the war and is officially neutral. Along the way, the German soldiers encounter brave men such as French-Canadian fur trapper Johnnie (Laurence Olivier) and soldier Andy Brock (Raymond Massey).

  • In the beginning of the film, the U-37 sinks a Canadian Cargo Ship, but its unknown how many people actually died.
  • The U-37 is a Type IXA Submarine, so I used the minimum amount of crewmen with is 48 (Minus 7 for the Six survivors and Bernsdorff.)
